5G Course
The 5G Networks graduate course offered to Carleton University and University of Ottawa master’s and Ph.D. students is now in its third year. 67 students have completed the course, some of whom have gone on to full-time roles at Ericsson.
Some of the topics covered in the course include:
- the evolution from 1G to 5G
- standardization
- spectrum planning
- 4G LTE fundamentals
- 5G New Radio enhancements
- 5G Core and beyond 5G
Students have gained a primer on 5G wireless communications with learning outcomes consisting of the planning, design, development and management of 5G networks through the application and contribution of best practices, standards and tools.
The course has both a theoretical and practical approach. It also features occasional guest lectures from Ericsson researchers.
